| It
all began in 1969 when Jack "Ono"
Reilly (later to become known as "Capt. Ono")
established Creation Surfboards, a stronghold of innovative
surfboard design and the quintessential purveyor of the surfing
lifestyle. In the early 1970s "Ono" assisted by
Peter "The Professor" Kerwin, opened the Creation
surf shop in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Shortly thereafter,
Conrad "C.C." Cancelmi joined Ono and The Professor
to complete the Creation Trilogy. Within one year, East Coast
surf shops from Florida to New York became dealers for Creation
"wave tools" and the Creation
factory, in New Smyrna Beach became one of Florida's leading
surfboard manufacturers, at a time when surfboards were being
produced mainly in California and Hawaii. |

Known for artistic design,
innovative shapes, and meticulous craftsmanship; Creation
Surfboards was a leader in East Coast experimental surfboard
design at the height of the short board revolution. Many
original Creation Team Surfers went on to become legends
in their own right, as members of this tight-knit group
would leave their marks on the world representing the best
offspring surfing has to offer. Over 30 years later, most
of the Creation
Crew are still involved in surfing on a regular basis.
This website is a tribute to the "Creation" surfers,
and others like them around the world; veterans of a classic
surfing generation and creators of a lifestyle emulated
today by surfers worldwide. |
